Directions
The Topic is now at two different venues in The Sunbridge Wells Complex just off the Mirror Pool in the centre of Bradford - The Wallers Brewery (a bar, for guest nights) and The Rose and Crown (a pub, for singers' and musicians' nights).
These two venues are on separate floors within the complex, and while both can be reached by any one of the three different entry points, it will probably be most convenient, especially for those who want to minimise stairs, if we use a different entry point for each one.
The main entrance is almost directly off the Mirror Pool. There is a passage between the Wetherspoons bar and the Starbucks, which opens out, and from there you can see the Sunbridge Wells entry maybe 50 yards further on. Once inside, a long, slightly sloping passage leads you straight to the Wallers Brewery Bar. The performance room is then just off to the left, opposite the bar.
Just before you get to the bar, there are some steps which will eventually get you to the room in the Rose and Crown where we will hold the S/M evening. However, there is an easier entry, steps-wise, from Upper Millergate - just off Sunbridge Road itself. If you walk up Sunbridge Road, it is on the right as you near the top. Don’t be fooled by the shop using the same name and typeface, but offering Rapid Repairs: it’s one shop (IRBL Barbers) further than that, to the right. Once inside, it’s a few steps up to the bar, then there's a staircase up to the room we may be using. So there are stairs....
Sunbridge Road starts a few yards beyond the Wetherspoons: look for the pink Provident Building.
Toilets are between the two levels, unfortunately. And, there is another entrance to the complex on Ivegate, but that isn’t convenient for either of our two venues – though you could get to them that way.
Parking and Stations
There are some parking spaces on Sunbridge Road, cost: £1 from 6pm to midnight.
Parking is free after 6 pm on Thornton Road though currently parking is temporarily suspended on the south side, north side is ok (hope you've got your compass). There are small side roads off Thornton Road with no parking restrictions. Thornton Road is only a few minutes walk from the venue.
Jacob's Well car park charges £1.50 per hour. There's also the car park behind the Media museum (Sharpe Street), but that's also £1.50 an hour, it's a bit further to walk than Jacobs Well.
Bradford Interchange is about 6 minutes walk (0.3 miles from the venue; Forster Square about10 minutes (0.4 miles). According to Google...
