TOPIC FOLK CLUB, BRADFORD
At the Bradford Irish Club, Rebecca Street, BD1 2RX - a wheelchair-friendly venue
Newsletter No. 104 - November 2010
November is a symmetrical month with singers & musicians nights at either end and two guest night in the middle. Don't forget that the singers night at the end of November is to be held in a different venue - see below (a temporary move for that night only). In addition, our two November guest nights are part of the region-wide LunaMatik <http://www.lunamatik.co.uk> arts & music festival.
Singers & Musicians
Come on down with your instruments and voices. Everyone welcome. 8.15pm start. Free.
Lincolnshire-based duo Dave Wilson and Kip Winter bring great songs, great performance, and an off beat sense of humour which gives them a style that‚s very much their own. John Tams described Dave Wilson as "A magnificent song writer", and folk legend Vin Garbutt covered Dave's "Storm Around Tumbledown" on his CD "Persona Grata". Kip's voice is one of the best in the business, coupling power and emotion to help bring out the character of the songs. £5/£6
The Hall Brothers & John Carey with Michelle Plum
The Hall Brothers are well established local favourites who perform both their own original songs with a mixture of sensitivity and vigour, as well as their own arrangements of traditional and other contemporary material. Tonight there will also be fiddle accompaniment from John Carey and they will be joined by Michelle Plum, singer and guitarist in her own right, adding an extra dimension to their musical output. £5/£6
Singers & Musicians
On this occasion we will be in the New Beehive, just across the road from the Irish Club. As always, everyone is welcome to take part. 8.15 pm start and free entry.
Bowie Bliss & Cockerham
A rare chance to see this fleetingly formed Yorkshire trio, the extremely talented parts of which you are likely to have seen perfoming solo or with other bands around our region & beyond. An exciting evening of entertainment awaits. £6/£5
And coming later...
December: Kieran Halpin, Roger Davies
January: Luke Hirst, Kath Reade, Gerry McNeice & Niamh Boadle, Reg Meuross
