TOPIC FOLK CLUB, BRADFORD
At Glyde House, Glydegate, Bradford BD5 0BQ
Newsletter No 147- August 2014
Hello again everyone,
Just a brief note to remind you that although we don't have any guest nights in August there will be a singers and musicians night on each of the Thursdays, starting at 8.15 pm, entry of course is free. We have tried to arrange for there to be an MC each time, but should this not prove possible on any week, well just keep calm and carry on.
A final reminder about the Shuttle Shuffle Festival to be held at Factory Street Studios, Unit 9, Factory Street, Bradford BD94 9NW over the weekend of 9th/10th August. It's the second year of the festival and will feature music of different genres with Topic guests performing this year on one of the main stages: appearing this year are Strid, Keystone Acoustic, Kath Reade, Gerry Cooper and Phil Snell, with Plumhall finishing the festival on the Sunday night..
The festival, which encompasses arts as well as music, is in aid of the charity The Piece Project, whose aim is aim to create life-enhancing music experiences for the community and widen participation in the most disadvantaged communities in an inspiring and creative environment. All the performers are providing their services free for this worthwhile cause.
Tickets are reasonably priced from £10/15 for a day weekend with discounts for groups and young persons. The different stages will be running throughout both days, so the audience will be able to move from genre to genre to experience the different styles of music on offer. There will be food and other stalls, a bar and, as last year, lots of creative things happening. There is also to be a raffle for a hand-made mandolin, personalised with the winner's initials embossed on it.
Further information, which is being updated all the time, is available on the website http://www.theshuttleshufflefestival.co.uk/ or on facebook www.facebook.com/ShuttleShuffleFestival.
Well, that's it for now. The next newsletter will come out a bit early to give you details of our Autumn season. Until then, have a great summer, if you're not having one already..
Best wishes
